Many Hong Kong films withdrew registration for Golden Horse Awards, celebrities collectively absent

Following the National Film Administration's suspension of mainland films and personnel from participating in the 56th Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival in 2019, on August 7th, many film companies in Hong Kong expressed their opinions and cancelled their participation in the Golden Horse Awards. This includes works such as "Anti-drug 2 Heaven and Earth Showdown" starring Andy Lau and Louis Koo, "Apostle Walker 2 Shadow Spear" starring Zhang Jiahui, and "Chasing the Dragon 2 King of Thieves" starring Leung Ka Fai, Louis Koo and Yam Dahua.

Media Asia boss Lin Jianming also made it clear that he has ordered all the company's films not to participate in the Golden Horse Awards. In addition, Zhuang Cheng, head of Media Asia's film department, also stated that no film will participate in the Golden Horse Awards this year. As an Asian film investment company based in Hong Kong, Media Asia Films has many good reputation films, including the "Infernal Affairs" series and "Initial D". At the same time, this year's Golden Horse Awards will be upset in terms of guests, and celebrities may be absent collectively.

In response to media inquiries about the suspension of mainland films and personnel from participating in the Golden Horse event, the Golden Horse Executive Committee replied: "If it is true, of course it is regrettable. At present, the Golden Horse Awards have entered the judging stage, and various Golden Horse events will be held as usual."

As one of the "Three Chinese Film Awards", the Taiwan Golden Horse Awards, not only did this year’s awards meet the Golden Rooster Award, but now they also encountered the "collective absence" of mainland and Hong Kong films and personnel. Now, the Golden Horse Award has really become "Entertain yourself."

can't help but remind people of last year's Golden Horse Awards. During the last live broadcast of the Golden Horse Awards ceremony, a shocking scene occurred when the winners of the best documentary made improper remarks, which aroused the anger of mainland filmmakers and the masses.
