On the afternoon of October 2, a meeting with the creators of the opening film "Volunteers: Battle of Life and Death" at the 2024 China Golden Rooster and Hundred Flowers Film Festival was held in Fuzhou. The film's director Chen Kaige and members of the creative team visited many theaters in Fuzhou to interact face-to-face with Rongcheng movie fans.

Wanda Cinema in Taijiang Financial Street is the first stop of the Fuzhou session of the 2-day creative meeting. At around 15:00 that day, the three main creators Chen Kaige, Zhang Ke, and Zhu Yawen came here to share the story behind the film.

Chen Kaige’s ancestral home is Changle, Fuzhou. He told Fuzhou movie fans: "We are fellow villagers. Every time I go back to Fuzhou, I have a different feeling. The food in Fuzhou is also very delicious."

Chen Kaige introduced that this movie is a "literary and martial arts drama, and a martial arts drama is a hit." The character names are cleverly set.

It is understood that the Youfu Film Tour took root in Fujian in 2019 and is a brand of China Golden Rooster and Hundred Flowers Film Festival themed events that our province focuses on. The opening film of this year's tour, "Volunteers: Battle of Life and Death," is the second film in the "Volunteers" trilogy directed by Chen Kaige.
