Jin Yucheng only saw the samples of the TV series for the first time after the filming of the series was completed. He believes that changes to the script are normal. Any director, whether turning his novel into a movie or a TV series, must have his own opinions. He praised that the parts in the TV series where his uncle taught Ms. Wang how to write an examination and the interior scenes of No. 27 on the Bund in Shanghai were both more wonderful than novels.
Surprisingly, Jin Yucheng believes that the most beautiful character in the drama is not Hu Ge, who plays the protagonist Abao, nor the three leading heroines Ma Yili, Tang Yan and Xin Zhilei, but Xuezhi, who does not have many roles ( Dujuan (played by Du Juan). He also revealed that Wong Kar-wai's favorite scene in the novel "Flowers" was not filmed in the drama version. "The director's favorite is when Xiao Mao meets a woman doing laundry in the middle of the night, and she follows Xiao Mao home to do the laundry." However, since the drama version deleted all of Xiao Mao's storyline, there was no chance for this scene to be filmed.
