In 2009, Li Peihong adapted the Mei School's classic play "Mu Guiying Takes the Command" into the Cheng School's "Mu Guiying Takes the Command", which was performed on the Tianchan Yifu Stage in Shanghai and received an enthusiastic response. In 2019, the Peking Opera Cheng School's "Mu Guiying Takes the Command" received a major literary and artistic creation grant from the Shanghai Cultural Development Foundation and was once again performed in the form of a symphony version at the Shanghai Grand Theater. It was also performed as a play in the "Opera Enters Campus—2019 Campus Opera Festival" , Shanghai Opera students collaborated with the Tsinghua University Student Art Troupe symphony band and chorus to sing Tsinghua Garden.
