From March 15th to 17th, "Poem in Memory of Dongpo" will move to the David Kirk Theater at Lincoln Center in New York.
The modern dance poetry drama "Poetry of Dongpo" transforms the artistic understanding of Su Dongpo's poetry into self-perception, and externalizes it through modern and contemporary comprehensive expression forms such as body movements and audio-visual language. The play does not directly unfold Su Dongpo's life and circumstances, does not get entangled in concrete events or emotions, or conflicts, nor does Su Dongpo stand directly on the stage as a "drama character". Instead, it uses the aesthetic style of contemporary theater to present Su Dongpo with depth. Modern dance, which integrates traditional Chinese opera, Tai Chi and other ethnic vocabulary, is the main body. The dialogue between Guqin music and modern music, and the multiple visual effects of poetry, calligraphy, painting, seal cutting and other stage art techniques show the soul, love and worries of the poet Dongpo. and nostalgia.
Since its premiere in Shanghai last July, the play has been performed in Hangzhou, Beijing, Chengdu, Xi'an and other places.
