According to the latest technology patent, Sony seems to be developing an updated version of the DualSense controller. This new controller is expected to provide operation prompts by clicking buttons, making it easier for players to master game skills during the process of getting started.

The patent was granted on November 30 and describes a predictive assistance solution based on machine learning models. The system will constantly monitor player performance and determine when assistance may be needed. If the system determines that a player is about to get into trouble, an experimental system will light up a button to draw their attention and suggest next steps.

Additionally, button prompts will appear on the controller's touchpad, which actually acts as a display. Although this is not the first patent to suggest that the DualSense 2 may feature a touch screen instead of traditional buttons, as another similar intellectual property application appeared online in September this year. The concept describes a controller that not only lights up with the click of a button, but also the shoulder triggers and both joysticks.

Although it is currently unclear whether this technology will be commercially applied, no matter what the result is, the development of the underlying technology may indeed bring a simpler operating experience to PlayStation games.
